SIE/President Hanne Jensbo visits Haifa

German Version
Below there are some Photos from the visit
The visit took place in the afternoon of Friday May 30, 2003 Sisters from the three Haifa clubs met in the garden of Hanna Bickel. The garden put forward its best foot, and the pastoral atmosphere put everybody at ease.
We had "tea" (actually coffe and soft drinks) and cakes baked by some of our sisters. The party accompanying the President, including Hava inbar, the President of the Israeli club and members of our presidium soon arrived.
"Hanne" as Ms. Jensbo prefers to be called, went up to all the sisters, introduced herself and asked to which club she belonged.
One of each of the three clubs said a few words about her club, its projects and activities. Sara Rabinovitz from the Haifa club told us about the founding of the Soroptimist club 49 years ago by a group around Prof. Rachel Shalon, who served as the founding president.
Then Hanne explained her Soroptimist "philosophy". She explained that now that the clubs in West and Central Europe are well established, and the goals of "Soroptimism" well advanced, even if there is still a lot to be done, the emphasis should shift to the Periphery.
She told us of her many visits to East Europe, and to the African Continent. In fact she decided to hold the governers convention in Kenya, to this end.
She also mentioned that the strict rule of having only one member of each profession in a club, and that only women who are well established in their profession could be admitted, should be eased if it stands in the way of recruiting sisters who would make an important contribution to the club.
We ended the afternoon by holding hands and singing.
Dani, Hanna B.'s "soroptimister" took photos for our website.
