Marianne Krueger of Berlin-Mitte Club visit to MCTC
The Mount Carmel Training Center

The Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC), established in Haifa in 1961, is one of the "Centre for International Cooperation" of the Israeli  Ministry of Foreign Affairs  first training centers.

It was founded in order to train professional women and men from developing countries and transitional societies, providing them with the necessary tools for women's empowerment. To this end, three areas of study have been developed, all with the objective of enabling women to participate in the development process of their communities and consequently advance their status.

A full report on the Center is published by the Ministry.

The founder of the center, Minna Ben-Zvi, was also one of the founding members of the first Soroptimist Club in Israel, the Haifa Club, and the following (now partially retired) head of the Center, and the present head, are both members of the Haifa Nave-Shaanan Club.

The German Soroptimist Union is one of the sponsors and donors to the Center. In fact there is an excellent article about the Center on the German Soroptimist Website, under PROJECTS.

Marianne Krueger, of the Berlin Mitte Club, visited the Center during her stay in Haifa, in order to be able to report about it to the various German Clubs she is involved with.
